"Stories of Repentance" is a beautiful book complied with short stories of forgiveness. One of my favourite stories was that of a convert Muslim. He embraced Islam when he was journey through ship with Muslims. The part of the story that really struck me was the following,
"At the ed of the first evening of travel, all of us crew men got ready to go to sleep. Our new passenger [the newly converted Muslim] said, "O People! the Lord that you guided me to, does He sleep?" We said, "He is the Everliving, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtake Him." He looked at us and said, "It is indeed bad manners for a slave to sleep in the presence of his Master." He then jumped up and began to pray; and his crying voice could be heard until morning."
SubhanAllah this is the pinnacle of obedience and devoution to Allah. This new Muslim was so conscience and faithful to Allah that he spent his night in Salah. I am going to try and offer my daily Salah with similar love and concentration as this man.
